The Super Minipla (SMP) line has long been a favorite among Super Sentai and tokusatsu fans, offering highly detailed, articulated model kits of iconic mecha. With the release of the SMP King Brachion (Clear Color Ver), Bandai has given fans a fresh take on the beloved dinosaur mecha from Bakuryuu Sentai Abaranger. This clear color edition adds a translucent twist to the classic design, making it a must-have for collectors and builders alike.

In this review, we'll dive into every aspect of the SMP King Brachion (Clear Color Ver), from its packaging and build to its articulation and overall value. Whether you're a seasoned SMP collector or new to the line, this review will help you decide if this clear version deserves a spot in your collection.

Unboxing and Packaging

The SMP King Brachion (Clear Color Ver) comes in a compact, colorful box that features the mecha in all its translucent glory. The box art is vibrant, showcasing the clear blue and purple parts that make this version stand out. Inside, you'll find several runners of plastic parts, a sticker sheet for additional detailing, and an instruction manual that is easy to follow, even for beginners.

One of the first things you'll notice is the quality of the plastic. The clear parts are crystal clear with a slight tint, giving the figure a unique, almost ethereal appearance when light passes through. The non-clear parts, such as the joints and inner frame, are molded in solid colors that contrast nicely with the transparent armor.

• Clear parts are well-molded with no visible sprue marks.
• Sticker sheet includes options for both anime-accurate and original detailing.

Build Experience and Articulation

Assembling the SMP King Brachion (Clear Color Ver) is a satisfying experience. The parts fit together snugly, and the instructions are clear, making the build accessible to model kit beginners. The build time is roughly 1-2 hours, depending on your experience level. The clear parts require a bit more care when handling, as they can scratch more easily than standard plastic, but the end result is worth it.

Articulation is a strong point for this kit. The King Brachion features multiple points of articulation, including a movable jaw, articulated legs, and a posable tail. The clear armor doesn't hinder movement, allowing you to recreate dynamic poses from the show. The figure can stand on its own, but a display stand is recommended for more dynamic poses.

• Jaw can open and close, with a tongue piece included.
• Legs have multiple joints for a wide range of motion.

Design and Aesthetics

The clear color version of King Brachion is a visual treat. The translucent blue and purple parts give the mecha a sleek, futuristic look that differs from the original solid colors. When displayed near a light source, the figure takes on a glowing effect that is sure to draw attention. The clear parts also allow you to see the internal mechanics of the kit, adding depth to the overall design.

For fans who prefer the original look, it's worth noting that the clear version is a separate release, so you can choose which aesthetic you prefer. The clear version also includes a few extra parts, such as a clear version of the AbarenOh head, which can be used for display or customization.

Value for Money and Comparison

At its price point, the SMP King Brachion (Clear Color Ver) offers excellent value for Super Sentai fans. The clear color treatment is a premium feature that adds a unique twist to an already great kit. Compared to the original release, the clear version is slightly more expensive, but the aesthetic difference justifies the price for many collectors.

If you're looking to expand your SMP collection, you might also consider other recent releases like the Furai Action Red Ranger or the Furai Action Green Ranger, which offer a different style of articulated action figures. However, for those who love building and displaying mecha, the SMP King Brachion (Clear Color Ver) is a standout choice.

• Clear color parts are exclusive to this version.
• Compatible with other SMP Abaranger kits for combined displays.

Final Thoughts

The SMP King Brachion (Clear Color Ver) is a fantastic addition to any Super Sentai collection. Its unique clear color scheme, solid build quality, and impressive articulation make it a joy to build and display. Whether you're a veteran collector or a newcomer to SMP, this kit is sure to impress.

If you're a fan of the Super Sentai SMP line, this clear version is a must-have. But if you're also into other tokusatsu series, you might want to check out the MDLX X (Force Armor) - Mega Man X, which offers a different kind of mecha action.
